Privacy Policy
La Renova SA respects your privacy. We collect only the personal information we need to give you a quote, do the job, send you an invoice, and stay in touch about your roof. We do not sell your information. We follow South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
In short
- We collect your name, contact details, address and a description of the work you’d like done.
- We use that information to give you a quote and, if you accept, to do the job and invoice you.
- We share information only with our accountant, our payment systems (Sage), and a small number of named software providers (Google, Microsoft, Meta, our AI assistant providers Anthropic and OpenAI).
- We keep most records for five years (SARS rules) and warranty photos for seven years.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time.
- For any question or complaint, email info@larenova.co.za with the subject line “POPIA request”.

- Messages: WhatsApp, email, website form, Facebook DM, Instagram DM or Google review — kept as a record of the conversation.
We do not deliberately collect special personal information (race, religion, health, biometric data, etc.). If you choose to share information about a health condition that affects access to your property, we record only what we need to do the job safely.
3. How we use your information
Your personal information is used only to respond to your enquiry, give you a quote, deliver the job, invoice you, keep accounting records, defend warranties, follow up after the job, and (only if you opt in) send newsletters or use marketing photos. We do not use your personal information for any other purpose without telling you and, where required, obtaining your consent.
4. Lawful basis for processing
Under POPIA Section 11, our lawful grounds are performance of a contract (when you ask for a quote and we deliver the job), legal obligation (for SARS, VAT, payroll and OHSA records), legitimate interest (to defend warranties and to communicate with existing customers), and consent (for marketing, newsletters and the use of your job photos in marketing).
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with these third parties (“operators” in POPIA language) to the extent needed to do our work. They process information on our instruction and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Sage South Africa — accounting and invoicing.
- Google (Workspace, Drive) — email and file storage.
- Microsoft 365 — documents and email.
- Meta (WhatsApp Business, Facebook, Instagram) — customer messaging and our social presence.
- Anthropic (Claude API) and OpenAI (ChatGPT API) — when our AI workflows go live, helping our team draft replies, quotes and documents from your enquiry. We use business-tier accounts that contractually do not retain or train on your data.
- Cartrack / Secure Track — vehicle tracking on our work vehicles.
- Our external accountant — bookkeeping support and SARS submissions.
- Our website host — hosting larenova.co.za.
We do not sell your personal information. Some operators are located outside South Africa. POPIA Section 72 allows cross-border transfers where the receiving country has comparable data protection law, where you have consented, or where the transfer is necessary to perform a contract with you. The operators above meet at least one of these conditions.
6. How long we keep it
- Quote enquiries that did not become jobs — 12 months from last contact, then deleted.
- Customer contracts, invoices and accounting records — 5 years (SARS / VAT requirement).
- Warranty photos and job records — 7 years.
- Marketing photos used on our channels — 5 years, or removed sooner if you ask.
- AI workflow logs — 30 days, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
7. How we keep it safe
All work devices are passcode-protected. All cloud accounts use two-factor authentication where supported. Staff use a shared password manager — passwords are never sent in plain text via WhatsApp or email. Backups are kept in a second cloud location. Paper records are kept in a locked filing cabinet at the Kraaifontein yard, and disposed of by shredder. Customer data sent to AI assistant providers is sent only on business-tier API accounts that contractually exclude your data from training.
If we ever suffer a security compromise that could affect you, we will tell you and the South African Information Regulator as soon as we reasonably can — usually within 72 hours.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to ask what personal information we hold, to correct anything that is wrong, to ask us to delete it (subject to retention requirements), to object to direct marketing at any time, to withdraw consent for processing that depends on it, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
How to exercise your rights. Email info@larenova.co.za with “POPIA request” in the subject line. We acknowledge within two working days, verify your identity, and respond in writing within 30 calendar days.

Essential cookies keep the site working (no consent required). Analytics cookies measure visits and pages viewed (we ask for consent on first visit).
10. Children
Our services are aimed at adult property owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information about anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
